Session Focus – Dribbling

This Small Sided Game encourages players to make incisive attacking dribbles around the edge of the penalty box and to develop dribbling, turning, passing, receiving and finishing skills.

Primary Aims & Objectives

Develop player’s ability to beat defenders and create goal-scoring opportunities.

Soccer Coaching Small Sided Game to Coach Dribbling

Organisation

  • Mark out a pitch with a goal on each end-line.
  • Create two end-lines ~10-15m from goal and place a pair of gates on each end-line.
  • Players can only score after dribbling through one of their opponent’s gates.
  • Always restart by dribbling the ball back in to play.

Make It Easier

Allow players to shoot after dribbling over any part of their opponent’s end-line.

Make It Harder

Challenge stronger players to finish with their first touch after the gate.

Limit stronger players to a particular gate.
